1930-S Wheat Penny - VF (Very Fine) Condition to EF (Extremely Fine) - San Francisco Mint - 1930 S Wheat Ear Cent

This listing is for one 1930-S Wheat Penny in VF (Very Fine) Condition to EF (Extremely Fine), as pictured. "S" Mint mark, denoting the San Francisco Mint.

The Lincoln cent (sometimes called the Lincoln penny) has been struck by the United States Mint since 1909. The obverse or heads side was designed by Victor David Brenner, as was the original reverse, depicting two stalks of wheat (thus "wheat pennies", struck 1909–1958).

This 1930 S Wheat penny is a fantastic piece of history. The 21st year of production, the coin is a necessary addition to a collection, and makes a great gift.

What happened in 1930?

- President Herbert Hoover signs the Smoot-Hawley Tariff bill on June 17th which raised duties on imports.
- Uruguay wins the World Cup in Uruguay defeating Argentina.

- The Argentinean government is overthrown by a coup d'état on the 6th of September . Hipólito Yrigoyen was the president of the country but he was quickly forced out of power by General Jóse Félix Uriburu as General Uriburu led his loyal troops to the capital and were met with very little opposition to the coup.
- Pluto is discovered during February of 1930. It was discovered by astronomer Clyde W. Tombaugh at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona.
- The Chrysler Building is completed and opens during May of 1930.
