This listing is for the 1972 Merchants Co-operative Bank of Boston Encased Penny Promotional Token. The Merchants Bank of Boston was established in 1881 and refers to itself as "The Friendly Bank." In 1990, they acquired with government financial assistance and subsequently operated as part of The First National Bank of Boston. Then, in 2005, it merged into and subsequently operated as part of Bank of America, National Association. Now this token can be kept as a unique Boston historical keepsake and a lucky piece.
